Smol time Kumba!

Cumulative marriage proposals: 50,000
Successful workshops: 4 (unsuccessful workshops: 0)
Ratio of days in Cameroon to plates of rice and beans consumed: 1:1
Number of lessons learned: 2000

Well its been a hectic three months, between the project being wrapped up and the “necessary” social obligations before leaving the county, at least we’ve been busy enough to be distracted from the fact that we’ll be missing so much when we return to our respective couches*, though also distracted from keeping this blog updated so a-thank you to all for remembering to check in for the updates!

The workshops went fantastically despite a smaller turnout than expected, and we continued to have our minds blown not just by the discussions but by the enthusiasm that council members brought to the sessions, if any of the participants learned as much as we did we are a–ok. We managed not to offend anyone (too much), to get through all the modules sans logistical problem (no idea how that happened), not to mention, now brace yourselves – not a single marriage proposal was offered over the course of those four days. Maybe we need to lay off the rice and beans…..

We hope that the project will continue with more training in the subjects that the councillors requested. They do not receive any training besides experience, and there was a lot of demand expressed over having sessions that were more focused on developing legal skills. We trust our colleagues to see that through though it is still very difficult to leave knowing that there is so much more to do!

So I suppose that’s it that’s all folks, thanks everyone for supporting us whether by reading this blog, providing advice or letting us vent when times got sticky, we could not have done it without you.

One Spirit, one peanut; we are together.

I say couches because without any coordination each intern has actually said that this is exactly where they will be heading for the week after they return home.
